How steamy were Dominic Fike and Hunter Schafer’s kisses on “Euphoria”? So steamy, they’re up for an award.

Naples native Fike and co-star Schafer — who have also dated off-screen — are both up for the Best Kiss award at the June 5 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Fike is also nominated for Best Song for “Elliot's Song” (aka “Little Star”). He performed it and serenaded Zendaya’s character, Rue, on the show. The song was written by Zendaya and show composer Labrinth.

Fike and Schafer kiss several times in season two of “Euphoria,” which appeared on HBO and HBO Max earlier this year. It’s not clear which specific kiss is up for the award.

Also competing in the Best Kiss category are:

  • Lily Collins and Lucien Laviscount in “Emily in Paris."

  • Poopies and a snake in “Jackass Forever."

  • Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz in “The Batman."

  • And Tom Holland and Zendaya in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

How Fike got the Elliot role on 'Euphoria'

Fike, 26, portrayed the laid-back, guitar-strumming Elliot in season two of “Euphoria.” He was part of a love triangle with “Euphoria” characters Rue and Jules, played by Zendaya and Schafer.

It was Fike's first acting role.

The rapper and singer, who now lives in Los Angeles, originally auditioned for a smaller part on “Euphoria.” But that character was written out, and the show’s producers created a much bigger role for him.

“I did a chemistry read with Hunter, and I got it,” Fike told The News-Press and The Naples Daily News in February. “It was great, and they gave me the part.”

Fike said it was “insane” working with Zendaya and Schafer.

“When I first met them, I had no idea how much I’d be seeing them on set,” he said. “So I took it as a big deal. And then I would see them EVERY DAY. And then I realized, ‘Oh, I’m gonna be seeing a lot of you!’”

“Euphoria” has been nominated for several more awards at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, including Best Performance in a Show (separate nominations for Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya) and Best Show.

The Best Song category appears to be for song performances, not composing. Other performances in the category are:

  • Jennifer Hudson’s “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” from “Respect."

  • Ariana Grande & Kid Cudi’s “Just Look Up” from “Don’t Look Up."

  • Jennifer Lopez’s “On My Way (Marry Me)” from “Marry Me."

  • And the “Encanto” cast performing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” in “Encanto.”

"Elliot's Song" has been streamed more than 26 million times on Spotify. That's still far behind Fike's previous hits, including "3 Nights" (717 million streams), "Babydoll" (96 million) and "Phone Numbers" (160 million).

The MTV Movie & TV Awards air live at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5, from the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles. Fike doesn't plan on attending, according to one of his publicists.

More about Dominic Fike

Fike was born and grew up in Naples, and his mother and brother still live there. The rapper/singer’s fame has steadily grown over the last four years, starting with the hit song “3 Nights."

He was signed to Columbia Records in 2018 for a $4 million contract, moved to Los Angeles, released his debut album in 2020 and launched an acting career.

His fame has skyrocketed since his debut on “Euphoria.” His Instagram account now boasts 3.7 million followers — up from 500,000 in 2020.

Fike insists he’s OK with the fame, despite the song “Cancel Me” on his 2020 debut album, “What Could Possibly Go Wrong.” In that YouTube hit — which has racked up 2.3 million views — Fike daydreams about getting “canceled” so he can finally leave Los Angeles and move back home to his family in Florida.

Co-stars Zendaya and Schafer warned him about the spotlight and how he wouldn’t be able to visit the same places anymore without drawing the paparazzi. But Fike said he’s handling the fame fine so far.

“I’m cool with it,” he said in February. “Yeah, I’m cool with it. … It’s just one day at a time.”

Fike has confirmed that his character, Elliott, will be back next season on “Euphoria.”
