Euphoria star Hunter Schafer was arrested after taking part in a pro-Palestinian protest in New York City.

The actress, who plays Jules Vaughn on the hit HBO show, was among 50 protesters to be arrested on Monday (February 26) after gathering in the lobby of NBCUniversal headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza to call for a ceasefire on the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas (via Sky News).

"Hunter was arrested at the protest, along with 50 other people," Jewish Voice for Peace NYC, the group that organised the protest, said in a statement. "We commend her commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone."

President Joe Biden had shown up to the studio to film an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, and the protesters could be heard chanting "Let Gaza Live" as his motorcade pulled into the area.

Schafer was spotted wearing a "Ceasefire Now" T-shirt along with the other protesters, while sitting in front of banner that read "Jews to Biden: Stop Arming Genocide" before being escorted out of the building by police.

It's been reported that 30 people were "taken into custody and issued summons for trespassing and disorderly conduct". Schafer is set to appear in court next month.

On Monday, Biden expressed his hope for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas "by next Monday", facilitating the release of hostages being held by Hamas in exchange for Israel releasing Palestinian hostages.

Last week, the US received widespread criticism after vetoing a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

More than 30,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7, with at least another 70,000 wounded.
