Actor Lukas Gage has shared a video of a Zoom audition in which he caught the English director insulting his apartment.

The 25-year-old Euphoria star posted the clip to his Instagram, showing the excruciating moment where the director clearly thought he was on mute.

“These poor people living in these tiny apartments… I’m looking at his background and he’s got his TV,” the director is heard saying.

He stops speaking when Gage winces and then says: “Ooh… yeah unmuted. I know it’s a s***y apartment but that’s why give me this job and I’ll get a better one.”

After a painful silence, the director, who had not been identified at the time of writing, apologises and says he is “mortified”. “I am so, so sorry Lukas,” he says.

“I’m living in a 4x4 box, just gimme the job and we’ll be fine,” Gage responds.

Presumably he didn’t get the part, as he has now posted the video along with the caption: “PSA: if you’re a s*** talking director make sure to mute ur mic on zoom mtgings.”

A number of fellow actors responded and expressed their astonishment at how rude the director had been, while praising Gage for the grace with which he handled the awkward moment.

“What the f***,” wrote Normal People star Paul Mescal.

Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner called the incident “f***ed up”, while her husband, singer Joe Jonas, said Gage handled it “like a champ”.

“I dunno how you reacted so well lol,” wrote Patrick Schwarzenegger.

Gage joked that he would reveal the identity of the director if the video received 100,000 likes.

At the time of writing it had been viewed more than 300,000 times in just 13 hours.
