Euphoria stars Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike appear to have responded to rumours that they are in a relationship, after Dominic shared a sweet post on his Instagram Stories which shows the pair kissing.

Rumours have swirled in recent weeks that the co-stars may be a real-life item and Dominic appeared to address these reports by sharing a photo of him and Hunter kissing in a restaurant in front of a plate of chocolate cake.

The snap seems to have been taken while the pair celebrated Hunter's birthday, which was in December, as Dominic wrote "Happy birthday happy birthday" across the picture.

The pair have not so far officially confirmed that they are in a romantic relationship.

However, their Euphoria characters, Jules and Elliot, are definitely exploring their romantic connection on-screen, having been brought together by their ties with Rue (Zendaya).

Euphoria is currently airing its second season, with recovering drug addict Rue once again facing a battle to combat her addiction after an unsuccessful stay in rehab.

The HBO drama has recently faced a backlash for its portrayal of drug use, violence and "other destructive behaviours", to which star Zendaya has responded by saying that the show "is in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing".

"If anything, the feeling behind Euphoria, or whatever we have always been trying to do with it, is to hopefully help people feel a little bit less alone in their experience and their pain," she added. "And maybe feel like they're not the only one going through or dealing with what they're dealing with."

The show's co-producer Jeremy O Harris also recently defended creator Sam Levinson from fan complaints, saying: "I been told y'all to stop talking shit about my boy Sam Levinson bc THIS SEASON OF #EUPHORIA is made for ppl with an intellect for CINEMA and not the impatience of TELEVISION [sic]."

Euphoria airs Sunday nights on HBO and Monday nights on NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
