Europa League play-offs: Shakhtar to play with Olympique de Marseille

Shakhtar Donetsk has been drawn to play in the knockout stages of the Europa League play-offs. Following the draw in Nyon, Switzerland, Shakhtar will play with Olympique de Marseille.

Details: Shakhtar reportedly started this season in European competitions in the Champions League group, where they were in a group with Barcelona, Porto, and Royal Antwerp.

Until the last round, Shakhtar claimed to qualify for the play-offs of the most prestigious European competition, but lost 3-5 away to Porto and finished third.

According to the format, Shakhtar and seven other teams that finished third in the Champions League groups have to play knockout matches against the clubs that finished second in the Europa League quartets. The winners of the matches will advance to the 1/8 finals of the Europa League, where the group winners automatically qualify.

Shakhtar (Ukraine) – Olympique de Marseille (France)

The first knockout matches of the Europa League play-offs will take place on 15 February 2024. The participants of the 1/8 finals of the European Cup will be determined after the return matches on 22 February 2024.
