European political community summit confirms complete isolation of Russia, says Polish PM

The first meeting in its new format was held in Prague on Thursday, Oct. 6, Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported.

The event was attended by 27 leaders of the European Union and 17 leaders of countries that are not part of the EU, but have the status of candidate members or EU partners. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal attended the summit on behalf of Ukraine.

“This summit confirms that Russia is in complete isolation, not only from the EU countries, but also others, including those bordering with Russia. All of them condemn Russia’s aggression,” Morawiecki said in his address.

The Polish PM also added that some states in Eastern Europe were significantly “entangled in Moscow’s web.” He did not name them, but was probably referring to Germany and Hungary, both of which allowed their economies to become dependent on imports of Russian gas.

These states allowed themselves to be involved in a disastrous energy and gas policy “out of naivety, their own stupidity, or perhaps consciously serving the interests of Russia,” Morawiecki said.

“Russia uses gas pipelines, as well as the muzzles of tanks, as its tools of aggression, instruments of domination and imperialism,” he said.
