How Your Eurostar Journeys May Be Affected By Strikes In The UK This December
Strikes in the UK are due to cause a knock- on affect to Eurostar travelers this December. Thinking of train travel through Europe’s most Christmassy capitals this month? There may be some added planning to your trip due to multiple train strikes in the UK.
Eurostar links services from London to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam alongside other European cities. Due to a pay dispute, security staff at the international rail service are set to strike. According to Euro News, members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) working for Eurostar will walk out on 16, 18, 22 and 23 December.

According to reports, over 100 staff will take part in the action. The strikes come as a wave of strikes in the UK as railway workers demand better pay and working conditions.
“Eurostar security staff are essential to the running of Eurostar and it is disgraceful they are not being paid a decent wage,” said RMT general secretary Mick Lynch.
“We do not want to disrupt people’s travel plans, but our members need a pay rise, and this is the only way management will listen.”
Lynch has encouraged Mitie and Eurostar to negotiate a settlement with RMT promptly.
RMT announced further industrial action at Network Rail and 14 other train operators on 13 to 14 and 16 to 17 December as well as 3 to 4 and 6 to 7 January 2023.
