Evacuation warning issued for Marmot Fire burning near Three Rivers

A wildfire burning roughly 5 miles from Three Rivers has forced an evacuation warning for nearby residents.

The Marmot Fire was reported Tuesday afternoon and was followed by the evacuation warning for the area of South Fork Drive. The area includes Cinnamon Canyon Drive to the park entrance, on both sides of the roadway, including Grouse Valley Drive.

Fire in Three Rivers has burned 127 acres

As of Wednesday morning, the fire had burned 127 acres and was 15% contained.

Cal Fire officials said crews have stopped the fire's forward progress. Road closures moved to South Fork and Mountain Road 319. The evacuation warning is still in place.

An evacuation warning means that residents should prepare now to evacuate if it becomes necessary. If residents require extra time to evacuate, they should consider leaving the area now. For additional resources or help visit fire.ca.gov.

This year, Cal Fire has responded to 4,927 incidents that burned through 147,034 acres.
