These Evanston Restaurants Are Reopening For Outdoor Dining

EVANSTON, IL — For the first time in 10 weeks, local diners are allowed to dine at Evanston restaurants, as Illinois moves into the next phase of the governor's reopening plan.

At least a half-dozen local restaurants plan to offer al fresco seating starting Friday, with more planning to open up in the coming days, according to restaurateurs and local Evanston business associations.

Anywhere that already has a private patio, rooftop or an open-window space where at least half of a wall can be removed are able to begin offering on-site dining services. City staff are processing applications for new sidewalk permits, which they expect to start approving as early as Tuesday.

All restaurants must follow Restore Illinois Phase 3 bar and restaurant guidance from state and local officials, including keeping tables at least 6 feet apart, wearing masks whenever not seated at a table and regularly disinfecting common areas.
