Food truck offering Bliss Artisan ice cream

The Arctic Avalanche truck is a new food truck that will be bringing cool treats to the streets of Evansville. On it you’ll find eight rotating flavors of locally-made Bliss Artisan ice cream, the company that got their start in New Harmony, then moved to Henderson, Ky, and is now headquartered in Tell City. Think about the future - and enjoy dinner

The Copper House will be the setting of a discussion on the topic of "Are We Being Good Ancestors?" by Indiana Humanities on Wednesday, March 29 from 6-8 p.m. It is one of eight such dinners being held around the state that night. Tickets are $30 per person and include dinner and discussion led by facilitator Dr. Del Doughty, Dean of the University of Southern Indiana's College of Liberal Arts, to help attendees navigate questions about humanity’s legacy and how to imagine an uncertain future.  Ticket sales end on Tuesday, March 28. Limited places are available.

Beginners' canning class

Local Source is hosting a beginners' canning class – Learn to Preserve Your Own Food on Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. – noon. Participants will learn canning basics including different styles, equipment, safety, and tips and tricks. Ticket price is $35 per person.

Giant taco eating contest

Los Alfaro’s Restaurant will be hosting their Footlong Taco Eating Championship on Saturday, April 1, at 10 a.m. The winner of the challenge gets a $50 gift card, championship t-shirt, and their picture displayed in the restaurant and on social media. It costs $30 to enter, which includes the price of the taco and an event t-shirt. Get your ticket at losalfaros.com. Must be 18 to participate.

New New Harmony Café

Say’s in New Harmony, Indiana, is the new restaurant adjoining Sara’s Wine & Bier Bar at the corner of Church and Main Streets. The brand new café is open, for the time being, on Sunday and Monday from 5-8 p.m. only. Look for a changing menu of light entrees and desserts. St. Clement fish fry in Boonville

St. Clement Parish in Boonville, Indiana, will hold a fish fry every Friday in Lent through March 31, in the St. Clement Social Hall, from 4:30-7 p.m. On the menu are fried or baked fish fillets, cornbread, slaw, sides including choices of potato salad, green beans, baked beans or macaroni and cheese, a dessert and beverage. The cost is $15 for adults, $6 for kids 12 and under. Dine in or carry-out meals are available.

St. John the Baptist fish fry in Newburgh

St. John the Baptist Parish of Newburgh will hold a fish fry every Friday in Lent through March 31, from 4-7 p.m. or until sold out. On the menu are fried or grilled fish or cheese pizza, rotating sides including baked potatoes or potato salad, macaroni and cheese, green beans, slaw, cornbread and dessert. Prices are $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 6-12, and ages 3 and younger free.

St. Philip Parish Fish Fry in Posey County

St. Philip Parish will hold the Men's Club Fish Fry on Friday, March 31 from 4:30-6:15 p.m. On the menu are fish, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. The price is $12 for adults and $6 for children.

Wine, Wags & Whiskers Fundraiser

Wine-Oh! Tours & Events and To the Table catering will present a five-course small plates dinner at the Jennings Street Public House on Thursday, April 18, at 5:30 p.m. to benefit the pets at Warrick Humane Society. You'll learn about the wine and how to pair wine and food with wine expert Pam Reimann. On the menu will be carrot ginger soup with spiced chickpea croutons, grilled watermelon salad with feta cheese, blackened turbot tostada with black beans and cilantro lime slaw, warm brie cheese on Italian bread, and double dark chocolate mousse, all paired with complementary wines to bring out the best in food and beverage. Tickets are $75 per person or $140 per couple. Seating is limited and tickets must be purchased by April 3. Attendees must be 21.

Barbecue truck opens restaurant in Oakland City

Zia Smoke BBQ is a truck you may have run into last summer in Fort Branch or Princeton with a distinctive Southwestern style of barbecue including brisket, pulled pork, ribs and pulled chicken. They’ll be at it again this year, and they’ve just opened a restaurant in Oakland City at the former John’s Smokin’ BBQ location. Stop in for nachos, sandwiches, meat plates and sides including pit smoked beans, green chile corn, smoked mac & cheese, and more.
