Sweet maple syrup class at historic site

Angel Mounds State Historic Site will host Maple Syrup Basics on Saturday, March 11, from 10-11:30 a.m. Participants will learn about tree identification, equipment, cooking methods, and plant physiology. It's an all ages program. The cost of the all-ages program is included with your Angel Mounds entry.

New Cajun and BBQ truck

The Bayou Boys, formerly of sno-ball fame, now have a second food truck which will hit the road for the first time at the Evansville Horror Con at The National Guard Armory on Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12. On the menu Saturday will be pulled pork and Bayou Beans, and on Sunday chicken and sausage jambalaya with rolls and either green salad or cold corn salad (a Cajun specialty with shoepeg corn, pimentos, peppers, onions, celery and sweet vinegar dressing) with flavored lemonades. Cincinnati specialty sausage now at Dewig's

Dewig Meats in Haubstadt, Indiana, now carries Glier's goetta. A Cincinnati-area specialty, goetta is a German sausage made with beef, pork, onions and steel-cut oats with special spices that is often eaten at breakfast. It's already cooked, so the cook just needs to brown and serve. It can be sliced and pan-fried, crumbled and crisped to use as a filling, and enjoyed many other ways.

Evansville Burger Week

Evansville Burger Week is March 5-11. Around a dozen area restaurants including the RiverWalk Restaurant, 10-8 Cafe, Prime Time Pub and Grill and many more will be offering $7 burger specials and stacking up exciting burger combinations. Even Chef What BBQ and More in Henderson is jumping in on the action with a pulled pork burger.

Germania fish fry

The Evansville Germania Maennerchor is hosting its yearly Lenten fish fries from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dates are: March 10, March 24, and April 7.On the menu are catfish fiddlers or tilapia filet, sweet and sour slaw, mac & cheese, and baked beans. The meal can be dine-in or carry-out. There will also be a half pot with a drawing at 7 p.m. Meals are $12 per person.

Owensboro Burger Week

Owensboro Burger Week runs now through March 11. More than 30 restaurants all over town will be throwing down creative burger concoctions and $7 specials. Stop by the Windy Hollow Biscuit House for a shrimp & grits burger on a biscuit, or the Curbside Kitchenette truck for a truffle burger with baby Swiss, sauteed mushrooms and onions, truffle aioli, greens and tomato... you get it. These burgers are going to run the gamut.

Parlor Doughnuts to open brand hub

Parlor Doughnuts has opened a new national hub, called The Doughnut Parlor, in Downtown Evansville on Saturday, March 4. The location, in the historic Bitterman building, will contain a retail shop offering Parlor's famous layered doughnuts; vegan, keto and gluten-friendly products; breakfast foods; and specialty coffee. It will also house franchise showcase, training center, test kitchen and coffee roastery.

The Doughnut Parlor is at 204 Main St.

New pizza truck

Paradise Pizza is a new food truck by the owners of the Kool Shack. It's ready to roll with classic and specialty pizzas such as the Skinny Beach veggie pizza, the Big Kahuna with pineapple, ham, bacon and brown sugar; the Taco Bout Beaches with salsa, choice of meat, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses and nacho cheese Doritos. St. Clement fish fry in Boonville

St. Clement Parish in Boonville, Indiana, will hold a fish fry every Friday in Lent through March 31, in the St. Clement Social Hall, from 4:30 - 7 p.m. On the menu are fried or baked fish fillets, cornbread, slaw, sides including choices of potato salad, green beans, baked beans or macaroni and cheese, a dessert and beverage. The cost is $15 for adults, $6 for kids 12 and under. Dine in or carry-out meals are available.

St. James fish fry in Haubstadt

St. James Parish in Haubstadt, Indiana, will hold a fish fry on Friday, March 10, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. On the menu is fried or baked Alaskan cod or grilled cheese, German potato salad, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, slaw, cornbread, dessert and a drink. The price is $14 for adults, $7 for kids.

St. John the Baptist fish fry in Newburgh

St. John the Baptist Parish of Newburgh will hold a fish fry every Friday in Lent through March 31, from 4-7 p.m. or until sold out. On the menu are fried or grilled fish or cheese pizza, rotating sides including baked potatoes or potato salad, macaroni and cheese, green beans, slaw, cornbread and dessert. Prices are $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 6-12, and ages 3 and younger free.

Boonville beverage boutique expands menu, hosts wine event

Trickey's Brews and Bevs in Boonville has expanded into a new dimension - Trickey's at Night. Normally the restaurant is a coffee shop and light lunch café where you can grab breakfast on Saturday. Now, on Friday and Saturday nights from 5-10 p.m., diners may enjoy live music, wine and beer, and a unique evening menu, different every night, with a selection of appetizers and light entrees such as flatbreads, sausage balls, spaghetti squash with turkey meat sauce and others. On Saturday, March 11, Pam Reimann with Wine-Oh! Tours will conduct a wine pairing class from 5-7 p.m. featuring four wines with Trickey's menu. Tickets are $25.

Burger truck opens restaurant

The popular Two Farmers Burgers and Beignets truck will not be on the road this year, because they will be serving at the new Two Farmers restaurant (with outdoor seating only) in Mount Carmel, Illinois. On the menu are specialty ultra-thin, lacy smashburgers with cheese, bacon jam, "farmer sauce" or barbecue sauce; a choice of buns; fresh-cut fries; scooped ice cream; and drinks including Mexican Coca Cola. Beignets are not offered at this time, although they'll make special appearances in the future.

New restaurant on Poseyville Main Street

The Wheel House is now open in Poseyville, Indiana, in the former location of Ziggy's Pub. The family-friendly restaurant serves pizza, sandwiches and burgers, steaks and chops, seafood and pasta.
