Evansville Food Truck Festival

The Evansville Food Truck Festival will happen Sunday, May 28, from 1-8 p.m. inside Bosse Field.

Stop to visit more than 30 food trucks, including many out-of-town visitors with new menu items for you to try, including Chimney's Food Trailer from Paducah, Kentucky, which specializes in Chimney Cakes from Hungary, which are hollow bread tubes filled with savory or sweet fillings.

Then there are Cousin's Maine Lobster; Coco Bongo frozen drinks; The Toasted Pineapple Snack Shack from Jeffersonville with loaded soft pretzels, dips, craft quesadillas and more. There will also be beer and wine, food tents, non-food vendors, live music and family fun. You can get tickets online.

Bosse Field is at 1701 N. Main St.

Newburg Farmers Market opens

The Historic Newburgh Farmers Market will have its first day on Saturday, June 3, from 8 to 11 a.m.

The market will return to its original location in the lot at 1 E. Water St. across from The Landing restaurant. All vendors come from within a 60-mile radius of Newburgh. You'll find edible (and drinkable) goodies from coffee beans to baked goods, fresh produce, eggs, flavored lemon smashers and honey.

Also look for fresh flowers, jewelry, arts and crafts, rugs, face painting, live music and more. Newburgh chef Adam Edwards will host cooking demos using market products on June 10 and Aug. 16. Other special activities such as the Zucchini 500 on June 24 and Pie Contest on July 29 can be found on the market's Facebook page.

The Newburgh Farmers Market will be at 1 Market St.

Newburgh Strawberry Social

The Historic Newburgh Strawberry Social will happen on Sunday, May 28, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Old Lock and Dam park in Newburgh.

Stop to have a strawberry shortcake and visit food trucks and market vendors with food, arts and crafts, soap and plants, among other options. Enjoy live music, games and rides and a silent auction. A free trolley will run from Newburgh Elementary. Admission to the event is free but there is a charge for rides and games.

Newburgh Elementary is at 306 State St.

Popular family-run Mexican restaurant celebrates 30th anniversary

Los Bravos, one of the area's first family-run Mexican restaurants, is turning 30. On Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3, head to the restaurant's East Side location for an all-day party with food and drink specials, a party tent, Mexican dance and music.

Food trailer will help train young entrepreneurs

Young & Established has announced the purchase of a food trailer to be used in a program called Y&Eats. The program's participating kids will run the trailer and learn about entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Watch for more details as the trailer gets closer to serving.

New brand of infused olive oils and vinegars

The Wine Vault will begin selling Olive and Vine infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars by mid-June.

More than 40 flavors will be available, including many single-origin olive oils with strikingly different flavor profiles, including oils from Peru, Albania, Spain, Italy, Portugal, California and Greece. Flavored oils include lemon, chipotle, Persian lime, Milanese gremolata and others.

Balsamic vinegars, some aged as much as 18 years, will be offered in dark and light varieties in flavors such as pomegranate, apricot, blueberry, lemon and others. You choose bottle size from 60, 200, 375 and 750 milliliters.
