Grill your Super Bowl party at this class

Bassemier’s Fireplace Patio & Spas will hold a Super Bowl on the Big Green Egg cooking class on Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Learn to make pizza (you prep, they grill), chicken wings (demo), and dessert (demo) on the Big Green Egg and snack on smoked queso and salsa while you learn. Tickets are $45 for one person or $65 for two.

New North Side coffee shop and pizza

Farm 57 farmers market and boutique shop, home of the Pizza Revolution truck and Food Trucks on the Farm gatherings, has now opened a coffee and drink shop with a greenhouse seating area. Stop in to enjoy coffee a housemade pastry with and espresso drinks, non-coffee lattes, Italian cream sodas, house lemonades, hot or iced tea, or juice.

Bigger menu, smaller prices at Vanderburgh Tavern

The Hornville Tavern has expanded its menu and lowered prices. Pop in and try fried green tomatoes with chipotle ranch sauce, giant BBQ Nachos, loaded potato skins, fried catfish, and even a Blue-berry Chicken salad with crispy chicken, bleu cheese, strawberries, egg and bacon on spinach with raspberry vinaigrette. Don't worry, your favorite burgers, smoked pork chops and smoked chicken are still there.

Evansville Wing Festival

The Evansville Wing Festival will happen Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Evansville. Over a dozen vendors will offer 40 styles of wings, and you may enjoy a wing eating competition, bobbing for wings, ranch and hot sauce chugs, tailgate games, adult beverages and more. Tickets range from $4.95 to $44.95

Tapas and wine tasting event

The Farmer and Frenchman will be hosting Tapas & Tastings on Tuesday, Jan. 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature six tapas with six paired wines. Tapas are small plates of flavorful food meant to be nibbled with wine or Sherry.

This menu includes Patatas Bravas - spiced roasted potatoes with aioli drizzle; gravlax - house-cured salmon on toast; bacon wrapped shrimp with Port glaze; Beef Tartare with caper, onion, egg, lemon and mustard; stuffed mushrooms with roasted garlic and Fontina cheese; and fried corn polenta with duck rillettes.  Learn about the food and wine pairing from Hubert Mussat, the winery’s “Frenchman.” Tickets are $50 per person and include tax and tip.

Fresh Firecakes restaurant closes

The Milk Barn Café has announced that the business, which began as a food truck in 2021 selling fresh Firecakes doughnuts, “Drips” coffee and ice cream, will be closing permanently. The building on Read Street, the former Read Street Barbecue, is for sale.

Wine tasting dinner in elegant New Harmony Restaurant

The Red Geranium will be hosting Winter Wineland with wine expert Pam Reimann of Wine-Oh! Tours and Events on Friday, Jan. 20, from 6-8 p.m. It’s the first of four wine pairing events The Red will host with Reimann in 2023. Enjoy small plates of French onion soup, grilled watermelon salad with feta cheese, salmon with mango salsa, beef medallions with chocolate gravy and tiramisu, each with a perfectly matched wine and education on wine tasting and pairing from Reimann. Reservations are required and tickets are $95 per person, which include tax and tip.
