Worldly pop-up menu at Farmer and Frenchman

The Farmer and Frenchman Winery and Restaurant will offer a special World's Fair Pop Up Menu on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5-9 p.m. This menu will feature small plates of comfort food from around the world, including fried plantain tostones with Caribbean dipping sauce, pork adobo Filipino style simmered in soy sauce and vinegar; Pork pastor skewers; Guatemalan tamales; churros with chocolate sauce and strawberries and much more. Each item is individually priced between $5 and $16. Call 270-748-1856 for reservations.

Gumbo Cook Off returns

The 9th Annual Franklin Street Gumbo Cook Off will happen on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1-4 p.m. Over a dozen businesses up and down West Franklin Street will be hosting non-profit organizations all serving up their own special gumbos. Only 1000 tickets will be sold. Your commemorative mug is $25, which is your ticket to enter and eat. Order online and pick up the mug at the Franklin St. Boutique, Leroy's Tavern or Siciliano Subs.

Bloomington-baked cookies coming to coffee shop

Joe Brewski Coffee is now serving cookies by Baked! of Bloomington. Stop in for chocolate chip, oatmeal, and red velvet (during February) cookies to accompany your salted caramel cold brew, espresso drink, or hand crafted gourmet soda.

Cook chili, raise funds

Mater Dei High School Winter Guard and Percussion will hold a Chili Cook-Off and Tasting on Tuesday, Feb. 28, and is looking for teams to enter their chili. Entry fee is $20. Ehili may be classic, white or vegetarian. You'll compete for bragging rights and a $60 People's Choice award. The public may pay $10 ($5 for kids under 12) to enter from 6-7:30 p.m. for unlimited tasting samples and a drink. To enter the contest, email afield@evdio.org by Friday, Feb. 24.

New Colombian food business

Sabor Colombia is a new food business in Evansville featuring the Latin flavors of Colombia. Soon to be a truck, right now the business is offering occasional pop-up events with food for pre-order and pick-up. Colombian empanadas and tamales have been on the menu. Watch the Facebook page for announcements of upcoming events.

New Poseyville restaurant

The Wheel House is a new restaurant coming to Posey County in the former Ziggy’s Pub location in Poseyville. On the menu will be sandwiches and wraps, salads and larger entrees. The tentative opening date is in late February.

The Wheel House will be at 16 W Main St. in Poseyville, Indiana.
