Food to fight cancer

Eat Plants Be Well will present an online four-class Food for Life series called Let's Beat Breast Cancer beginning on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 5:30 p.m. with Introduction to How Foods Fight Cancer. Further weekly classes are Fueling Up on Low-Fat, High Fiber Foods; Cancer-Fighting Compounds and Healthy Weight Control; and Foods and Breast Cancer Survival. Tickets are $44 for the entire series.

Fiesta Evansville will happen on at Wesselman Park on Sunday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Stop to enjoy authentic foods from Mexico, Central and South America; live performances; cultural exhibits and much more.

New feel for Ghost West

Ghost Quesadilla West has transitioned to Ghost Sports Pub. A new menu includes hand-cut fries, sandwiches and more. The pub will be all ages from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday - Friday and over 21 all other times. The original Ghost Quesadilla and Ghost Sports Bar in Newburgh will remain the same.

New Sunday football buffet

The Hilltop Inn is now offering changeable all-you-can-eat Sunday Buffets to complement your NFL Sunday Ticket viewing. A baked potato bar with toppings including bacon, ham, cheese, butter and sour cream, olives and more was offered for $12 in September. Check the Facebook page on Tuesday or Wednesday each week for that Sunday's special.

Oktoberfest menu at Newburgh bar and restaurant

The Knob Hill Tavern will begin its annual Oktoberfest menu on Monday, Oct. 3. Stop in for German sausages, sauerbraten, pork schnitzel, Oktoberfest pizza with corned beef and kraut, German chocolate cake and much more.

Family Fun on the Farm

Mayse Farm Market is open with Family Fun on the Farm fall activities through Monday, Oct. 31. Weekday hours are 2-6 p.m. and admission is $8. Experience the five-acre corn maze, corn hole, games, swings, farm animals, a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch and more. On the weekend, admission is $12 and additional activities including inflatables, a kiddie zipline and concessions are added. Concessions and pumpkins picked in the patch are not included in the admission price.

Dinner and theatre in Evansville:Newburgh company again is offering dinner theatre with 3 performances

Porkapalooza fundraiser

The Newburgh Senior Center will host Porkapalooza on Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The Newburgh BBQ Coalition will be smoking the barbecue, making 300 slabs of baby back ribs, the same number of whole smoked tenderloins, and loads of pork shoulder for pulled pork. Enjoy take-away pulled pork sandwich lunches with chips and a water for $5 both days. Pre-order slabs of ribs ($35), smoked pork tenderloin ($15) and bulk pulled pork ($25 per quart) by Tuesday, Oct. 4, by calling 812-629-4634 or 812-598-8332. Pick up items on Saturday, Oct. 8 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Outdoor farm to table dinner

Seton Harvest will host its October Twilight Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 6-10 p.m. A farm-to-table meal by Culinary Innovations featuring products grown at Seton Harvest will be served. Other contributors are Woods and Stems mushrooms, Working Distributors, and Timberview Flower Farm. Music will be by 2 Miles Back. Tickets are $50.
