Valentine Wine and Dine for Chemo Buddies

Chemo Buddies will host a Valentine Wine and Dine event on Tuesday, Feb. 14, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Crescent Room at Milestones.

The event will be catered by Just Rennie's with dessert by Pangea Kitchen. Dinner will begin with cocktails, wine sampling, complimentary appetizers and a cash bar. On the menu is Italian chicken, salad, Euro potatoes, green beans, rolls and beverages. The meal is limited to 100 couples. The evening includes live music and a silent auction, photographer and wine pull, and you'll leave with chocolates and fresh flowers. Tickets are $150 per couple. Must be 21 to attend.

A Chocolate Affair

The 26th Annual Chocolate Affair will be presented by the Lampion Center on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 6-10 p.m. at Bally’s Evansville. Enjoy an elegant evening of appetizers, decadent desserts from local businesses, champagne and live music. All proceeds support the Lampion Center's mission of providing life-changing therapy services to children, individuals and families in our community. Tickets are $125 per person.

Dinner and dance at Germania Maennorchor

The Evansville Germania Maennerchor will host the Stiftungsfest on Saturday, Feb. 4, with a dinner at 6 p.m. and a concert and dance with the Rathskeller band at 7 p.m. On the menu are marinated chicken, au gratin potatoes, green beans, salad and rolls. Tickets are $12 per person. Call the club after 3 p.m. to reserve by Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Chili cook on Haynie's Corner

The Haynie’s Corner Arts District neighborhood will host the Pro Bowl II Chili Cook fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 5, at the corner of SE Second and Adams streets. The outdoor competition will keep you warm in any weather with seventeen competitors cooking up chili and sides for judging and for unlimited sampling (chili only) beginning at 4:30 p.m. Bracelets are $10 to enter and sample. Supplies are gone when they're gone, so get there on the early side.

Beer and cookie pairing

Myriad Brewing Company's annual collaborative beer and cookie pairing with The Granola Jar is coming up from February 10-14. Pairings are cucumber Kölsh with Key Lime shortbread, blackberry wheat with carrot cake cookie, s'mores stout with s'mores cookie, and English toffee porter with a Heath Bar cookie. Orders must be placed by Thursday, Feb. 2. Choose when ordering whether to pick up your beer and cookies at the Myriad Downtown or Newburgh taprooms. You may enjoy them at the business or take to go.

Wine pairing education

Pam Reimann of Wine-Oh! Tours and Chef Lexie Fankhouser of To The Table will present a wine and food pairing education event at The Beverage Barn in Henderson on Friday, Feb. 3, from 6:30-8:30. Participants will enjoy a balsamic marinated steak slider, a buffalo chicken slider, Mediterranean vegetables on a gluten-free roll and a blackened tilapia slider, each paired with a complementary wine. On Wednesday, Feb. 8, Reimann will be pairing four wines with decadent chocolates at the CoWorking Cottage in Newburgh from 6-8 p.m. Tickets for both events are $25 per person. Thursday Supper Club at Schymik's Kitchen

Schymik’s Kitchen has introduced the Thursday Supper Club, a bi-weekly dinner event where up to 40 participants gather for a family-style tasting dinner with a theme, but no menu. Be prepared to be served multiple courses of mind-blowing surprise food. Seats must be reserved, but you do not have to purchase a ticket in advance. The price is $49 per person, not including tax and tip. The first Thursday Supper Club will happen on Thursday, Feb. 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Sunrise Café now open

The Sunrise Café Family Restaurant is now open on Evansville's North Side for breakfast and lunch. Stop in for breakfast, sandwiches, salads, fried chicken, burgers and wraps, and much more. Breakfast served all day.

Cookie decorating for a cause

That’s Good Schmidt Cookies and Cupcakes will teach a cookie decorating class to benefit It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue at St. Paul’s UCC on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6-8 p.m. Participants will receive six animal-themed cookies, tools and icing, two hours of instruction, recipes and a box to transport the finished cookies home.
