Even more heavy rain, storms coming today, Saturday

Thursday’s storms dropped several inches of rain in several areas - including our radio and TV studios on Central Parkway - and even more is coming to end the work week.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says showers and storms will begin developing again today between 1 and 3 pm. Heavy downpours and lightning strikes are the primary threats. Some localized flooding is possible in the typical spots.

Rain and storms will gradually shift inland through the late afternoon and early evening. A few inland locations may be impacted by the rain and storms as we get Friday night football underway. A few showers will try to make their way back east this evening as well.

Scattered rain and storms return on Saturday and Sunday. They will move inland through the afternoons. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees beforehand.

TROPICS: Two tropical waves (one east of The Windward Islands, one moving off the west coast of Africa) bear watching in the long-term. They aren’t a concern for Florida in the short-term.
