Local event producer Richard DeSantis will be honored Oct. 11 with the 451st star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.

DeSantis founded Event Management Productions more than three decades ago, and over the years he has produced major events in the Coachella Valley, including the Bob Hope Classic Ball, the Palm Springs Film Festival International Awards gala, and the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards, along the way working with such notables as Frank and Barbara Sinatra, Hubert Givenchy and Betty Ford.

The majority of the events he’s created have been fundraisers for local charitable organizations. In addition, he has sat on many charitable boards and served as a president of several of them.

“I have been producing events and shows all over the world for well over 40 years, but now, to be the recipient of my own star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars is truly humbling,” DeSantis said via press release. “Even with all of the magic and fantasy I've been involved with, I cannot believe I am now part of the incredible list of folks who 'shine' on the streets of Palm Springs.”

Since 1992, the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars has honored celebrities and local personalities on one of the world’s most famous sidewalks.

DeSantis’ star will be unveiled at the Downtown Palm Springs Park Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. The dedication ceremony is open to the public. For more information, contact nwatson@pschamber.org or call the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce at (760) 325-1577.
