The rankings were based on a comparison of the 200 largest U.S. cities, as well as 26 key indicators of zombie invasion-preparedness. Those included access to “bunkers,” hunting-gear stores and supermarkets, and the share of the living population in poor health.
The CDC’s Zombie Preparedness 101 guide, which includes several tips for surviving attacks from the undead, inspired the study. The guide provides readers with a list of items to keep handy such as water, food, medications, tools, sanitation and hygiene products, clothing, bedding and first aid products. It also discusses the importance of creating an emergency plan with your family.
