Events, classes coming this month at CLiCK

Jan. 17—WINDHAM — The Commercially Licensed Cooperative Kitchen has many classes and events planned for the month of January. The facility is at 41 Club Rd. in Willimantic.

—Jan. 18, Just Food Series: Intro to Series and History of U. S. Agriculture, 6: 30 p. m. to 8 p. m. This free class is being held via Zoom. During the series, participants will learn about the complex dynamics of our food system, learn about connections between racism and inequality and the food system and learn about making more ethical choices about their diets. These classes are sponsored by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut and the Windham- Willimantic branch of the NAACP.

—Jan. 21, Local Eats to Go meals at CLiCK, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Food can be ordered from now through Jan. 17 and picked up at CLiCK on Jan. 21. Food can be purchased from the following CLiCK members: Angeles Mexican Food, Twisted Kitchen, Cambera Farms, CLiCK Catering, KD Crop Farms and Moodus BBQ. —Jan. 25. Puerto Rican Cooking: Platanos! Plantains, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at CLiCK It costs $20 per person. Jessica from El Rincon Sabroso will teach participants about Puerto Rican cooking, including how to prepare Plantain and mofongo.

—Jan. 26: Jamaican Cooking class: Rasta Pasta Dinner, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at CLiCK Aris Williams will share a Jamaican recipe, as well as tell her story. This class costs $20.

—Jan. 28: Hot Sauce Making with Dragons Blood Elixir, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at CLiCK During this class, Dragons Blood Elixir owner Doug Crane will teach participants how to make hot sauce. Participants will take home five jars of hot sauce. All supplies are included. Space is limited for this class, which costs $50 per person.

—Jan 30: ServSafe for Managers class, 10 a.m.. to 4 p.m. at CLiCK. This class is for people looking to start a food business or who are seeking a managerial food service position. Certification lasts for five years. The class costs $160, payable by a bank check or cash. The class includes powerpoint, demonstrations and a facility tour. Space is limited for the class.
