—The Connecticut Horticultural Society will have a plant sale and auction Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin

There will be an eclectic collection of live plants and gardening treasures, including perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, shrubs and more.

Proceeds will be used for scholarships and its new civic grants program, CT Hort Cares, that support plant science educational efforts in communities and schools.

The cost is adults $12, students $6.

It is not necessary to have a partner. Dancers are advised to wear soft-soled shoes and light, layered clothes.

—Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Road in South Windsor, will host its second annual PIE (Peace Includes Everyone) Event on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the church parking lot/Community Room.

The event is modeled after a grass roots nonprofit peace movement, Peace through Pie, that incorporates the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. and the power of food and its ability to bring people together.

The goal is to encourage local residents to connect with one another, promote mutual understanding, and celebrate the diversity in the community.

The event will be held rain or shine and include a scavenger hunt, a performance and dance lessons by Layavinyasa Indian Dance Company, the painting of Diwali Rangoli sun catchers, and lots and lots of pie.

Parking is available off Woodbridge Street, behind the barn and through the gate.

—Delvena Theatre Company will present a program on the Salem witch hysteria Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wood Memorial Library and Museum.

The setting is Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, when 168 men and women were accused of practicing witchcraft; 20 of whom were executed.

See how things go in the 21st century when audience members are the jury in the trial of Susannah Martin. They will have the opportunity to question the defendant and form their own opinion as to her guilt or innocence.

The fee is $20, registration is strongly suggested.
