EVENTS: Fun things to do this weekend: Make a wreath, have some tea

Nov. 10—SUFFIELD — Phelps-Hatheway House and Garden will have its annual wreathmaking workshop Sunday at 1 p.m.

The cost is $65, $50 for members of Connecticut Landmarks. All materials are included except the bow; ribbon will be available to purchase.

—A virtual talk on "The Wallpapers of CT Landmarks" will take place Wednesday. Suggested donation is $5.

Trace the wallpaper histories of Phelps-Hatheway House and Bellamy-Ferriday House in Bethlehem and learn about the lives of the people who selected them for their homes.

Afternoon tea

ANDOVER — Andover Congregational Church, 359 Route 6, will hold an Autumn Afternoon Tea on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Pot roast drive through

COVENTRY — A pot roast drive through/take-out dinner will be served at Second Congregational Church of Coventry, 1746 Boston Turnpike.

Library open house

EAST HARTFORD — The East Hartford Public Library welcomes new residents to its Welcome Center Open Hours, an informal meetup, in the library reference room on the third Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

One Big Event

HARTFORD — The Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective's 20th One Big Event will be held Saturday at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.

The ambiance will be amazing. The food delicious. The drinks satisfying. And the crowd will be friendly.

A highlight will be a live and silent auction of items including a stay in Provincetown, tickets to the Broadway show "Strange Loop," artwork, and more.

One Big Event proceeds will support the work of the Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective such as HIV testing and counseling, dental services, Monkeypox information and vaccines, and more.

Turkey shoot

EAST WINDSOR — East Windsor Lions will hold turkey shoots Sunday and Nov. 20 at 37 North Road, Route 140.

Ticket sales start at 8:15 a.m. The target shooting starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. or sooner, depending on the number of shooters.

Tickets are $2.75 and more, depending on the round prize, which may include frozen turkeys, hams, fresh beef roasts, cash, and gift certificates. Guns and ammo are provided as part of the cost of the ticket.

This is a major fundraiser for the local Lions Club.

Roast pork tenderloin community dinner

HEBRON — St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 30 Church St. (Route 85), will hold its next monthly community dinner Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold-out.

If the food is ready and the parking lots are filling up, serving may start at 3:30 p.m. The cost is $15.

This is a take-out-only dinner with no preorders or reservations — first come, first served. Servers will come to your car, take your order and dessert choice, and place your order in the back seat or trunk.

As part of the St. Peter's outreach programs, a portion of each meal sold this month will go to the Colchester Food Bank.

Crafts for kids

WINDSOR LOCKS — Windsor Locks Public Library, 28 Main St., has drop-in crafts for kids that are best suited for ages 3-8.

Make a paper plate turkey through Saturday, a paper corn craft Monday through Nov. 19, or a silly paper bag turkey puppet Nov. 21-23.

Library hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

—The library has a construction club for children in grades K-5. Sessions will be held Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Nov. 17 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Buy a pie

ENFIELD — The United Methodist Church of Enfield, 41 Brainard Road, will host a drive-through pie sale Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fruit pies are made from scratch then frozen, unbaked. There will be apple pies and other fruit varieties.

In addition to pies, a limited number of jars of homemade raspberry jam and local honey will be for sale.

Proceeds will benefit the mission and ministries of the United Methodist Church of Enfield.

STAFFORD — Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Stafford Springs section, will have its annual Turkey Dinner ToGo on Nov. 20, with pick up between 5 and 6 p.m.

A traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings and dessert (gluten free available) will cost $15 per person or $50 for a family of four to six.
