Apr. 3—Runoff Candidate Forum is April 5
The Austell Community Task Force and the Mableton Improvement Coalition will present a candidate forum for the runoff candidates who are running for the positions of Mayor as well as for the City Council Posts 2,3,4 and 5 for the new city of Mableton.
The forum will be held April 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Because the April 18 runoff election day is quickly approaching, this will provide an opportunity to hear from the candidates who are working to earn votes.
As in past forums, residents will need to register in order to participate in this event. At the time of registration, residents can submit questions for the candidates. The questions will then be asked of the candidates through the moderators of the event.

Career Fair and Pop-up Legal Clinic is April 22
Commissioner Monique Sheffield and Chief Magistrate Judge Brendan Murphy are hosting a Career Fair and Pop-up Legal Clinic on April 22 at the Cobb County Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway in Marietta.
Free legal advice will be provided at the legal clinic from 10 a.m. to noon with preregistration beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Cobb County Human Resources Department, Cobb WorkSource, Chattahoochee Technical College and Wellstar will conduct job interviews on-site from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free information and health checks will be available from representatives from Wellstar.

Free event for children and adults on autism spectrum
Sign up for Camp Puzzle, a fun half-day experience for children and adults on the autism spectrum.
The free event will be held on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cobb Safety Village, 1220 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta.
Campers will get to sit in a police car, ride in a fire truck, go up in a ladder truck, play in a bouncy house and inflatable slide, play games and crafts, and meet with firefighters, police officers, sheriff deputies and 911 operators.

Resource fair location change
The South Cobb Community Resource Fair location has changed to the Mableton Elementary School campus, 5220 Church Street SW in Mableton.
Cobb Collaborative and The First Christian Church of Mableton is hosting their South Cobb Community Resource Fair on May 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. This event will provide a wealth of free information and resources from local community partners.
There will be activities for children and prizes. Pebblebrook Jazz Band and Lindley Middle School Chorus will provide entertainment, along with several other acts.

STEAM camp registration open for children
Registration is now open for the Austell Youth Innovation Center STEAM camps.
Each participant will learn about STEAM career fields, develop self-awareness, team building skills and more exciting techniques. Each session will include STEAM concepts, social-emotional learning and physical fitness.
Activities are led by industry experts, teachers and South Cobb High School students who are trained to help their elementary and middle school peers learn and grow in a fun way. Camp will run from June 5 to July 17 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and will be located at Legion Field Park, 5530 Austell-Powder Springs Road in Austell.

Cobb County Libraries closed April 7 and April 9
All Cobb County Public Libraries will be closed April 7 and April 9 for the Good Friday and Easter holidays.
Libraries will be open April 8. Normal hours will resume on April 10.

The Aveune West Cobb to have annual Spring Festival
The Avenue West Cobb will have their annual Spring Festival April 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The main event, a special Easter Egg hunt will kick off at 7 p.m. at The Green — located between GameStop and Seasonal Designs. Guests are encouraged to bring their baskets. There will also be selfies with the Easter Bunny and Baby Chick, live music spun by a DJ, balloonists, face painting, a mini petting zoo and a bounce house.

Civil War Roundtable of Cobb County April Meeting
The Civil War Roundtable of Cobb County will meet on April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Atlnata/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center, 500 Powder Springs Street in Marietta.
Brian Wills will discuss "Charlton Heston's Civil War."
The CWRTCC meets the first Thursday of each month and serves as a membership organization available to the public. The CWRTCC encourages the study, analysis and appreciation of the events, personalities, records and publications associated with the American Civil War.
First time visitors are free. Yearly dues are $45 per person or $65 per couple.

Tiny Spaces Storage Hacks
The West Cobb Senior Center, 4915 Dallas Highway in Powder Springs, will have Tiny Spaces Storage Hacks on April 6 from 11 a.m. to noon.
Participants can find storage space for their overflowing utensils, potholders, plastic wraps and more by learning to utilize lazy susans and implementing ideas on how to get small spaces organized for maximum function at minimal cost. Free, but registration is required.

AARP Smart Driver Course
The North Cobb Senior Center, 3900 South Main Street in Acworth, will have AARP Smart Driver Course on April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Participants should bring a lunch and their AARP card, if a member, for check-in. Participants should also check with their insurance agent about a possible discount for taking this class.
Cost is $20 AARP members, $25 non-members. Participants pay the instructor the day of class. Registration is required.

Blue Zones
The Senior Wellness Center, 1150 Powder Springs Street in Marietta, will have Blue Zones on April 6 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Blue Zones are areas in the world where communitis live the longest and healthiest. Participants can learn what those areas do different compared to others and how to incorporate those activities into one's daily life. Easter Scavenger Hunt

This is a fun scavenger hunt based on the Clue board game. Using the process of elimination, participants will work together to solve a mystery and be rewarded with a sweet treat. Free, but registration is required.

Dementia Friends

Become a "Dementia Friend" by learning about simple things one can do to support a loved one living with the condition. There will be a basic medical overview of dementia and the dementia experience, plus some tips for communicating with a loved one who has this disorder. Free, but registration is required.

A hearing deficit has so many implications as it relates to overall health — such as cognitive decline, balance issues, diabetes and more. Participants can join representatives from Georgia Hearing Air Factory Outlet for a discussion on navigating the challenges of hearing loss. The event is free, but registration is required. Carving with Kevin
The Tim D. Lee Senior Center, 3332 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta, will have Carving with Kevin on April 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Participants will need one good sharp paring knife, a small cutting board, three medium-size firm tomatoes, 8 large fresh radishes, two medium-size fresh beets or purple tip turnips, 1 bunch of large bulb scallions/green onions, 2 red onions and 1 red, yellow or orange bell peppers.
