Jan. 10—MCS Community Conversations town hall series continues

Marietta City Schools will be continuing the Community Conversations town hall series on Jan. 17, from noon to 12:30 p.m., with a focus on dyslexia resources available to students in the district.

The town halls were designed as an opportunity for the district to highlight projects and initiatives they are working on. Superintendent Grant Rivera and other leaders in the district will talk through major projects and initiatives. Parents and guardians will get the chance to ask questions and talk about topics that impact their student.

This month, Dr. Rivera and Dr. Jennifer Hernandez, Executive Director of the Office of Academic Achievement, will give an overview of how MCS supports students with characteristics of dyslexia, including the district's participation in the Georgia Department of Education's pilot dyslexia program. The conversation, available at https://zoom.us/j/97972140695, will also discuss how staff are trained in dyslexia resources and science of reading.

This "Community Conversations" event will be virtual to make it convenient to join from wherever one is at. It will also be recorded so those who can't make it can still access this valuable information.

Happening next month, the February "Community Conversations" will offer an overview of Marietta Athletics, including opportunities for students in K-12, summer camps, try-out information, and upcoming facility improvements. The conversation, Feb. 28 from 8 to 8:30 p.m., will be available at https://zoom.us/j/98669219921.
