Mar. 21—Easter Egg Drop with the Janice Overbeck Real Estate Team

The Janice Overbeck Real Estate Team of Keller Williams will host an Easter Egg Drop on March 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

It will take place at Mount Paran North Church of God's soccer field, behind the church and up the hill, at 1700 Allgood Road in Marietta.

There will be three different egg drops based on age: 1-3 year olds will go first, then 4-8 year olds and lastly 9-12 year olds. While guests are waiting, they can enjoy close up magic by a skilled magician, face painting, balloon art and meet Rapunzel. Goodie bags will also be available for visitors to take home.

Rep. McCormick to hold Telephone Town Hall on March 23

Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Georgia, is hosting a Telephone Town Hall on March 23 at 7 p.m. for constituents of the 6th District, where he will answer questions and discuss the issues facing Congress today.

"I'm looking forward to hearing about your priorities for our community and our country, and how I can best serve Georgia families," said Rep. McCormick. "We are working together every day to secure the border, strengthen the economy, support our troops and veterans, and ensure parents are the ultimate authority in their children's education. I hope you'll join us."

East Cobb Quilters' Guild hosts "Sewcial" for charities

The East Cobb Quilters' Guild will host a "Sewcial" on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Room at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Town Center, 625 Big Sandy Road NW in Kennesaw.

The event is to sew Beads of Courage bags for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta cancer patients, placemats for Meals on Wheels, pillowcases for hospitalized children thru Ryan's Case for Smiles and quilts for DEFAC. Beads of Courage bags are a new addition to their outreach. Eighteen quilters will bring their machines, materials and dedication to sew all day to continue their commitments of community service.

Marietta Police to have high school women's self-defense course

The Marietta Police Department, 240 Lemon Street in Marietta, will teach the Rape Aggression Defense System from 6 to 9 p.m.. on April 17, April 19, April 24 and April 26.

The 12-hour program of personal self-defense tactics and techniques is for women-only and designed to be quick and effective in delivering pain to vulnerable locations of the attacker's body.

All four days must be attended to complete the course. Participants must be a senior in high school or the female parent or guardian of the student. Parents who do not want to participate will need to attend the first hour to complete paperwork if student is under 18.

No jewelry is allowed during class. Gym attire is recommended.

Space is limited. The class is filled on a first come first serve basis.

Touchstones to the Past: City Cemetery Walking Tour

The Marietta History Center's Collections Manager Christa McCay will have a walking tour of the Marietta City Cemetery on May 20 at 1:30 p.m.

Established in the 1830s, the Cemetery has a host of tales to tell, and a guided walking tour is the best way to experience them. Each tour has a different theme that will explore stories of Marietta's constant residents.

This tour will focus on Cemetery Symbolism. Participants can come and get an up-close view and hear about the details of many hand-crafted tombstones.

The tours, rain or shine events, are conducted over gravel and uneven pathways, so please plan accordingly. The tours, limited to 25 people each, begin at the white house located at the center of Cemetery.
