Mar. 29—Living Hope Church to have Easter egg hunts and petting zoo

Living Hope Church, 3450 Stilesboro Road NW in Kennesaw, will celebrate Easter with free Easter egg hunts, an Easter brunch, a petting zoo, pictures with the Easter Bunny and butterfly releases on April 9 from 9:45 to 11 a.m.

Easter Worship Services will be held at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Roswell Street Baptist Church, 774 Roswell Street SE in Marietta, will have a Good Friday service on April 7 at 7 p.m. in the Worship Center.

Marietta church providing free food to those in need on April 4

The Episcopal Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, 1795 Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta, is partnering with There's Hope For The Hungry to provide free food for those in need.

On April 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., those in need can come to the church and follow signs through the church parking lot, park and come inside to register, then have a brief conversation and after that be directed back to one's car to pick up a box of non-perishable food that will feed four people for two weeks, a loaf of bread, frozen chicken, a quart of milk and a box of cereal. All COVID-19 precautions will be followed.

Flag Retirement Ceremony

Do you have a flag that cannot be repaired or is too tattered to be used?

The Fielding Lewis Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will have a Flag Retirement Ceremony on April 11 at 7 p.m. at the Due West Methodist Church, 3956 Due West Road in Marietta.

The community can learn how to properly dispose of their worn flags and show respect for these retired flags. Worn flags can be brought to the Switzer Library, 266 Roswell Street in Marietta, by April 8.

Town Center at Cobb Carnival is March 30 to April 9

Town Center at Cobb mall, 400 Ernest W. Barrett Parkway NW in Kennesaw, will have a carnival from March 30 to April 9.

There will be rides, games, fair food, Victoria Circus thrill shows and Big Bee, the transforming robot car.

Event admission, parking, and live entertainment are free. Circus shows feature high-wire and aerial performances and the Globe of Death motorcycle thrill act. Unlimited ride wristbands are $35 on site, or $29 online each before March 30 at 5 p.m.

Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre to have Rodney Carrington

The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway in the Cumberland aera, will have Rodney Carrington on April 1 at 7 p.m.

Rodney Carrington is known for the witty and sarcastic humor that he is able to blend into various mediums of stand-up, music, and short films. The show is for mature audiences only. Tickets are $44.50 to $65.50, plus applicable fees.

Western & Atlantic Bus Tour is April 1

Kennesaw's Southern Museum will have Todd DeFeo, founder of The DeFeo Groupe and the publisher/editor of Railfanning.org, lead a bus tour of the historic Western & Atlantic Railroad on April 1.

DeFeo will lead the tour of the state-owned railroad on behalf of the Kennesaw Museum Foundation and Kennesaw's Southern Museum. The day-long escapade will highlight the line's unique history and showcase many places where famous events transpired. DeFeo has written several railroad histories, including a pair of books about the Western & Atlantic. The author led a bus tour in April 2022 to kick off the Southern Museum's 50th anniversary celebration.

Tolleson Park Easter Egg Hunt

Tolleson Park & Pool, 3530 King Springs Road in Smyrna, will have the Tolleson Park Easter Egg Hunt on April 1 from 1 to 4 p.m.

There will be egg hunts, activities and Easter treats. The cost is $10 per child, with a 50% off discount for city residents. Children ages 1 — 12 are invited to attend. There are limited spots available for various sessions throughout the afternoon, so be sure to secure spaces early.

Paradocs at Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre, 117 North Park Square in Marietta, will have Paradocs on April 1 at 8 p.m.

Paradocs, founded by Dr. Larry Clements and Dr. Joe Havlik, is comprised of healthcare professionals from the metro Atlanta area who have a passion for music. During the past 25-plus years, members have come and gone but the mission of the band has stayed the same.

Attendees can get the VIP ticket package and get a private pre-show mini-concert, early access to seating, two drink tickets and a poster signed by the band.

King of Kings: Silent Film with live organ accompaniment

The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre, 117 North Park Square in Marietta, will have King of Kings: Silent Film with live organ accompaniment by house organist Ron Carter on April 2 at 3 p.m.

In this classic 1927 silent film directed by Cecil B. DeMille, Jesus Christ faces religious and political oppression during his ministry and in the days before his death and resurrection. The last sequence of the film is shown in Technicolor which was a new technology for 1927. Many of the movie's sub titles are quotes or paraphrases from Scripture, often with chapter and verse.

The Aveune West Cobb to have annual Spring Festival

The Avenue West Cobb will have their annual Spring Festival April 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The main event, a special Easter Egg hunt will kick off at 7 p.m. at The Green — located between GameStop and Seasonal Designs. Guests are encouraged to bring their baskets. There will also be selfies with the Easter Bunny and Baby Chick, live music spun by a DJ, balloonists, face painting, a mini petting zoo and a bounce house.

Civil War Roundtable of Cobb County April Meeting

The Civil War Roundtable of Cobb County will meet on April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Atlnata/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center, 500 Powder Springs Street in Marietta.

Brian Wills will discuss "Charlton Heston's Civil War."

The CWRTCC meets the first Thursday of each month and serves as a membership organization available to the public. The CWRTCC encourages the study, analysis and appreciation of the events, personalities, records and publications associated with the American Civil War.

First time visitors are free. Yearly dues are $45 per person or $65 per couple.

Payment Apps

The West Cobb Senior Center, 4915 Dallas Highway in Powder Springs, will have Payment Apps on March 30 from 10 to 11 a.m.

For person to person payments, cash is used less and less these days. Online payment services make sending money as simple as a few taps on one's phone. Participants can learn all about the most popular payment apps like Venmo and CashApp, as well as how to stay safe while using them.

Taste of Italy with John

The Senior Wellness Center, 1150 Powder Springs Street in Marietta, will have Taste of Italy with John on March 31 with the morning session from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

John is in the kitchen showing participants how to cook "No Meat — Meatballs," starting with Egg Meatballs. Then he will be preparing Eggplant Meatballs cooked in marinara sauce. Samples will be provided.

Participants will make Easter Egg Bath Bombs, colorful bath salts that one tosses into the tub that fizz and make the water smell heavenly. Cost is $7. Registration is required.

Every die-hard Trekkie knows that on this day, the Vulcans and humans will make contact for the first time. Fans have been celebrating First Contact Day since 1996. Free, but registration is required.
