Free pets available May 22
Cobb County Animal Services will have free pet adoptions on selected pets on May 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their parking lot, 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta.

Help craft the county's future plans
The Cobb County Board of Commissioners invites residents to give input on Cobb's draft strategic plan.
The board will hold another public hearing at its May 23 meeting at the county government building, 100 Cherokee Street in Marietta. After the board considers the additional input, it will vote on the plan's potential adoption in June.

Cobb PARKS has two outdoor pools opening in May
Cobb PARKS will have two outdoor pools opening in May.
Sewell Park Pool in Sewell Park, 2051 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta, will open on May 27 and will be open seven days a week through July 31. Hours are 1 to 6 p.m., except holidays when it is open from 1 to 5 p.m. From Aug. 1 to Sept. 4, the pool will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. on the weekends. Holiday hours are in effect for Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day and Labor Day. Fees are $3.50 for youth, $4.50 for adults and $3 for seniors, ages 55-plus.

Seven Springs Water Park, 3820 Macedonia Road in Powder Springs, will open on May 27. They will offer two separate sessions, noon to 3 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m., seven days a week through Aug. 1, then weekends through Labor Day. Fees are $6 for adults, $4 for children and $3 for seniors, ages 55-plus. Passes are available.

Creative Cards: Red, White and Blue
The Senior Wellness Center, 1150 Powder Springs Street in Marietta, will have Creative Cards: Red, White and Blue on May 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Senior Wellness Center, 1150 Powder Springs Street in Marietta, will have GeorgiaCares Medicare Counseling on May 18 from 9 a.m. to noon.
GeorgiaCares is a public-private partnership, administered by the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services. GeorgiaCares provides free, unbiased information and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers with health and drug plans. A GeorgiaCares counselor will be onsite at the center. The Importance of Medication Disposal

The goal of this presentation is to raise awareness to rid homes of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for seniors and their pets that may be sitting in medicine cabinets, nightstands, kitchen cabinets or pantries. The 19th Century Russian Musical Nationalists
The West Cobb Senior Center, 4915 Dallas Highway in Powder Springs, will have The 19th Century Russian Musical Nationalists on May 24 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Beginning with Mikael Glinka, participants can pursue the development of a Russian musical language. Led by the "Powerful Kuchka," sometimes called "The Mighty Five," these self-taught composers banded together and put Russia on the musical map. Free, but registration is required.
