Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas events are on tap this week in central Louisiana.

Rich Body Fitness Annual Turkey Giveaway

Free turkeys will be given away on a first-come basis to anyone who wants one.

Native American Style Thanksgiving

The Louisiana Choctaw Tribe will hosting a free, communitywide Thanksgiving dinner.

When: 12:30-3 p.m. Thursday.

Where: 120 Shanghai Drive, Ball.

Giving Hope Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by Reddex Washington and Friends

Where: Bolton Avenue in the Rush cleaners parking lot across from Bolton Community Center.

When: Noon Thursday.

Cost: Free.

Holiday Light Safari

The Holiday Light Safari at the Alexandria Zoo will be held select nights in November and December.

Stroll through the Alexandria Zoo decorated with thousands of lights and lighted animal figures or take the zoo train. Santa Claus will be on hand for visits and photos. Atwood’s Bakery will provide cookies.

Where: Alexandria Zoo, 3016 Masonic Drive.

Admission: General admission is $10; Friends of the Alexandria Zoo $8, kids 3 and younger free.

Red River Dance Theatre Company presents 'The Nutcracker'

"The Nutcracker Ballet," based on the classic story by German writer E.T.A. Hoffmann, comes alive in the ballet by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Where: Coughlin Saunders Performing Arts Center, 1202 3rd St., Alexandria.

Showtimes: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday. Nutcracker Tea will be held at noon Saturday, includes 2 p.m. performance.

Tickets: $15-$20 for show. Nutcracker Tea: $45-$65. Purchase at redriverdance.org

Sugar Mill Fields

Farm offers herbs, flowers, Christmas trees and wreaths. Check Sugar Mill Fields Facebook page for upcoming Christmas activities.

When: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday through Sunday and Tuesday. Closed Monday.

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, urges consumers to spend their money at local businesses.

The Central Louisiana Regional Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the cities of Alexandria, Pineville and Ball and the Alexandria-Pineville Convention and Visitors Bureau to kick off Small Business Season. They encourage consumers to shop, dine and do business locally during the holiday season.

When: Saturday.

Where: Local businesses in Alexandria, Pineville and Ball.
