The Lake Compounce amusement park in Bristol will hold a full live concert series of nationally touring acts for the first time in decades this summer.

The first concert will be country singer/songwriter Jerrod Niemann on May 27. The ‘90s grunge act Everclear, still fronted by Art Alexakis, performs June 10. Rapper and TV personality CeeLo Green floats on the lake stage on June 24, followed by country star Canaan Smith on July 15. The series ends with the “I Swear” R&B hitmakers All-4-One on July 22.

The shows will be held on a new floating lake stage. The stage, said to be the first of its kind in the state, will float near the beach area at Lake Compounce’s Crocodile Cove Water Park. With professional lighting and sound, the concerts will be able to be seen and heard from numerous areas around the park.

Floating stages are a new trend at parks and waterfront communities, adding new performance opportunities without the need to build new structures on land.

The national headliners are only part of the Lake Compounce concert schedule, which includes a live show every Saturday from late May to early September. Other acts announced this week include the Billy Joel tribute Stiletto on June 17, the Latin pop show Larger Than Life: Mi Gente on July 1, the tribute ABBA Mia on July 2, the Bon Jovi tribute Raise Your Hands on July 3, Southern Voice (doing country covers) on July 4, The Way Outs party band on July 8, the ‘90s-themed cover band Here’s to the Night July 29, the North Haven-based cover band Sunset Drive on Aug. 5, the versatile local cover band Shout on Aug. 12, Hartford’s rock cover act The Ebbas Aug. 19 and the precise ‘70s tribute act KSF (which specifically plays songs by Kansas, Styx & Foreigner) on Aug. 26.

The series ends on Labor Day weekend with the Beatles tribute Yesterday on Sept. 2 and The Brit Pack (specializing in ‘60s British Invasion hits) on Sept. 3. The May 27 and June 3 acts have yet to be announced. The full concert schedule will be available on the Lake Compounce website at lakecompounce.com.

All the July concerts will end with a fireworks display.

The concerts are free with admission to Lake Compounce. Season passes and other multi-day deals are available.

Lake Compounce was founded in 1846 and is considered the oldest continuously operated amusement park in the U.S., featuring dozens of rides and other attractions besides its water park. The park was once the site of a 20,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, which is where Milli Vanilli’s famous lip-synching scandal came to light when a recording of “Girl You Know It’s True” began to skip during a live performance on MTV on July 21, 1989.
