Some people learned a lot more about cooking during the height of the pandemic, social media feeds were flooded with sourdough savants and gurus of grilling — after all, being stuck inside meant many of us were cooking for ourselves and our families more.

But for those who realized they never quite knew how to manage the stove and oven to begin with, culinary classes are back in action across the metro area.

Here are five places you can take a cooking class in the Oklahoma City area.

1. Sur La Table, 5854 North Classen Blvd., Building P, Suite P-01

Sur La Table offers in-store cooking classes for kids, teens and adults with both individual and couples cooking classes available. Options include regional cuisines, classics and sweets plus an option for sharpening your knife skills.

Price range: $60 and up

2. Francis Tuttle Technology Center, 12777 N Rockwell Ave.

In addition to it's great Culinary Arts program, Francis Tuttle Technology Center also offers a number of one-off classes for specific dishes, techniques or meals in its lifelong learning programming. Classes for kids are held on Saturdays and adult classes are held throughout the week in skills ranging from scratch-made pies and sushi to cupcake bouquets and pad thai.

Price range: $60 and up

3. Belle's Kitchen, 7509 N May Ave.

Maybe it's baking that you really want to learn, then Belle's Kitchen may have just the class for you. With family, kids, individual and couples classes avaialable, the OKC bakery is ready to teach you to make sweet and savory delectables from danishes to bagels and cake pops to full meals for date night.

Price Range: $30 and up

4. The International Pantry, 1618 W Lindsey Street in Norman

Chefs from around the city teach cooking classes in a "dinner and a show," style format at Norman's The International Pantry. All classes include the opportunity for attendees to interact with the chefs and menus can be viewed on the website before booking a class via phone at 405-360-0765.

5. Gordon Cooper Technology Center, 1 John C Bruton Drive in Shawnee

If you live farther east of the metro, Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee offers a wide variety of short-term culinary classes. Options range from pickling, canning and cake decorating to creating full Mexican, Mediterranean and Filipino meals, fresh mozzarella or queso fresco and baking scones or French macarons. Classes are one night and offerings change each semester.

Price range: $25 and up
