- Oops!Something went wrong.Please try again later.
Zendaya has been absolutely nailing her red carpet looks for the Dune press tour, showing up at each and every event looking simply the best, better than all the rest. But now that the movie is out in theaters and on HBO Max, fans are struggling to understand why she's only on screen for about 7 minutes total in a movie that's almost three hours.
Now see, all the Dune fans coming out like “well if you had read the book you’d know her character isn’t....” I DON’T WANT TO READ THE BOOK I WANT TO SEE ZENDAYA WHAT’S NOT CLICKING STEVEN

Dune really played us by acting like Zendaya was a lead when she had 3 minutes of screen time

Though honestly, she did more in seven minutes than some people do in an entire movie, so:
one thing about zendaya, she owns her 7 minutes of screentime in dune! pic.twitter.com/fUWTUx1Ilt

For everyone who wants to see more of Zendaya (so, everyone), apparently this is merely Dune “Part One.” The movie is expected to have a sequel where Zendaya's character will play a much bigger role.

Director Denis Villeuneve confirmed that Zendaya will be the "protagonist" in the second film during an interview with Il Venerdì di Repubblica, via Collider, saying "I can't wait to shoot the second part of Dune to get [Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya] back together. Knowing that in the next chapter Zendaya will be the protagonist of the story."
While a second film hasn't been formally announced, Denis told The Los Angeles Times (via People) "There are some characters that are less developed that I'm keeping for the second film — that's the way I found the equilibrium. We tried in this movie to stay as close as possible to Paul's experience. Then, in the second one, I will have time to develop some characters that were left aside a little bit. That's the theory. I hope it will work."
