Everything is coming up apples in Mystic

Oct. 12—MYSTIC — Visitors watched as brothers John and Josh Miner operated the steam-powered cider press at B.F. Clyde's Cider Mill Thursday.

The brothers are members of the fifth generation to run the business, which has been family owned and operated since 1881. John Miner said the press is the oldest steam-powered cider mill in the United States.

"Everything, the doughnuts the cider, is all centered around this old thing," he said.

The shop is open seven days a week through December, featuring cider, hard cider, wine, cider donuts, and many local goods for sale. The cider press does not have a set schedule but runs most weekend mornings and early afternoons along with some week days through November.
