Everything Everywhere All at Once directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert have responded to claims that they've "sold out" after working on an upcoming Star Wars series.

The duo, also known as the Daniels, addressed reports regarding their involvement in Jon Watt's Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which stars Jude Law and is set to launch on Disney+ this year.

In an Instagram Story, Kwan clarified that they were only hired as guest directors for an episode.

"Lol, all of the people @ing us about getting sucked up by the 'corporate machine' can chill. These headlines are always misleading," he wrote. "Don't worry. We aren't working on a whole series, we guest-directed one episode.

"Jon Watts approached us to do an episode a while ago (before EEAAO even came out). We love Jon, love Star Wars, love learning new tech, we love meeting new cast and crew, and we needed the days to keep our healthcare (!!!) so it was an easy yes.

"We shot it last year and had an incredible time working with the most talented cast and crew, and I'm excited for you all to see it."

Kwan went on to tease the Daniels' next movie, writing: "Our next film will be an original Daniels project so you can stop worrying (and stop bothering me about it)."

It's been a huge year for the directing duo, with Everything Everywhere All at Once picking up numerous awards. Their sci-fi cult hit won seven Oscars earlier this month, including Best Picture and acting awards for Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Watts previously teased that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was about "a group of kids who are about 10 years old, who gets lost in the Star Wars universe".

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
