EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE Accepts the Oscar for Best Picture

Everything Everywhere All At Once has won the 2023 Academy Award for Best Picture – and that’s gay rights!

Directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (a.k.a. The Daniels), Everything Everywhere All At Once tells the story of an Asian-American immigrant, Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh), rekindling her relationships with her queer daughter, Joy (Stephanie Hsu), and sweet husband, Waymond (Ke Huy Quan). The film was a commercial and critical hit, garnering as many as 11 nominations at the 2023 Oscars. Among other awards, Everything Everywhere All At Once managed to take home the top prize of the ceremony: Best Picture.

Kwan said in his acceptance speech:

"Thank you so much to everyone here. You have all inspired me. I think one of the things that I realized growing up is that one of the best things we can do for each other is shelter each other from the chaos of this crazy world we live in. Thank you to the storytellers here who did that for me. The world is changing rapidly and I fear that our stories are not keeping pace, and sometimes it's a little scary knowing that movies move at the rate of years and the world on the internet moves at the rate of milliseconds. But I have great faith in our stories. These stories have changed my life, and they've done that for generations, and I know that we will get through this."

We couldn’t be happier for the cast and crew of Everything Everywhere All At Once, and what this triumphant Best Picture victory means for the overall representation of queer and BIPOC characters on the big screen!
