Britney Spears and her longtime beau, Sam Asghari, have been smitten with each other ever since they met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. Now, as Spears receives a wave of support from fans and celebrities alike amid the renewed interest in her conservatorship, Asghari is breaking the silence on their private relationship.

"I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves," Asghari said in a statement to People. "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."

Read on to learn more about Asghari.

He works as a personal trainer.

Asghari runs Asghari Fitness, which offers members personalized training programs and customized meal plans. He also regularly updates his Instagram with photos of himself looking ridiculously jacked.

He was born in Iran.

According to Men's Health, Asghari was born in Tehran, Iran, as the youngest of four children. Eventually, he immigrated to America, setting down roots in Los Angeles with his father, when he was 12 years old. He told the magazine, "I had to leave my friends and family who I was very close with, and I knew I was moving away and never coming back."

Asghari joined his high school's football team and later participated in a football program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, but was cut before his freshman year. He went on to play for Los Angeles's Moorpark College.

His sister encouraged him to try modeling.

"I was a very masculine guy—I played football and was in the police academy," Asghari told Men's Health. "At the time, my Sunday best was basketball shorts. My sister said, 'I will take you to this audition, just come with me.'"

After walking his first runway show in Palm Springs at 21 years old, he went on to book bigger gigs, including a Super Bowl ad for Toyota Prius and a small part in Fifth Harmony's "Work from Home" music video.

Eventually, he landed a part on Spears's music video for "Slumber Party." He recalled meeting the pop star for the first time to Men's Health, saying she gave him "butterflies."

"She said, 'Hi, I'm Britney,' and I said, 'I'm sorry. What's your name again?'" he said. "I tried to be funny. I don't think anybody got it."

The two exchanged phone numbers, went out for sushi, and have been together ever since.

Sam and Britney work out together.

The personal trainer told Men's Health that the two regularly work out together in the singer's home gym. "Working out together is always nice and we try to do it a couple times," he said. "It's super healthy, mentally and physically. It takes your mind off of everything else."

The workout videos they make together are rare glimpses into their otherwise extremely private relationship. "The exercises, I come up with them, but the videos are because of my better half. She's the video director," he said. "It's a very fun thing, and I look back at them and smile."

Spears also once joked to The Associated Press, "He's a trainer so everything has to be so perfect. We probably did 40 [takes] and I hurt myself."

He is extremely appreciative of their relationship.

Asghari told Men's Health, "She motivates me more than anyone. It's crazy how I can be humbled by a person like her. If I could be that humble when I'm that high in life, that would be the best thing. I grew up with three sisters, and my personality is just to be a supportive person for my family and she's family. I'm always going to support her. She is another blessing that happened to me."

For Spears, the feeling seems to be quite mutual. In one Instagram caption, she wrote of him, "Everyday he inspires me to be a better person and that makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world!!"

He might even pop the question one day.

When asked if he might want to marry the "Womanizer" singer one day, Asghari told Entertainment Tonight, "Absolutely." He added, "This is something that every couple should do. That's the whole point of a relationship—we are a family. ... Trust me, if we do ever get married, everybody's going to know."

He's not the biggest fan of Britney's dad.

After the release of the Hulu and New York Times Presents documentary, Framing Britney Spears, Asghari bluntly stated his opinion of Jamie Spears, Britney's father who has long headed her controversial conservatorship.

"Now it's important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way," he wrote in a post shared to his Instagram Stories. "In my opinion Jamie is a total dick."

He added that he won't elaborate further so as to respect their privacy as a couple. "I won't be going into details because I've always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn't come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom," he shared.

He follows and publicly supports the #FreeBritney movement.

Ahead of the much-anticipated June 23 remote conservatorship hearing, during which Britney spoke out directly on the issue for the first time, Asghari took to Instagram to show his public support. At the outset of the hearing, he shared on his Instagram story a selfie of him wearing a #FreeBritney shirt, and added to the top-left corner a small lion emoji, presumably alluding to his pet name for Britney, "lioness."

"Sam has been a huge support for Britney,” a source told Page Six. “He helps boost her confidence and assures her that everything will go well.” They also added, “He has been following the #FreeBritney movement online for a while now and always tells Britney how much she’s loved and supported by fans.”

He proposed to Britney in September.

On September 12, Spears broke the news via a surprise post on Instagram that longtime boyfriend Ashgari finally got down on one knee to propose."I can't fucking believe it 💍💍💍💍💍💍❣️!!!!!!" Britney wrote on Instagram.

The post featured a glimpse at her dazzling four-carat, round-cut Forever Diamonds ring with the word "lioness," Asghari's pet name for Britney, engraved on the inside of the band. The ring's designer and Forever Diamonds founder Roman Malayev dedicated the design specifically to Britney, naming the cut "Lioness" 0n his official website. "We are thrilled to congratulate Britney and Sam on their recent engagement," said Malayev in a statement. "We couldn't feel more honored to create this ring for such a special couple. Their journey together has touched people around the world and we're so excited to be a part of their forever."

Asghari's manager Brandon Cohen additionally confirmed the engagement to People, sharing in a statement, "The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them."

He celebrated Jamie Spears's official suspension.

On September 29, California judge Brenda Penny ruled that Britney's father, Jamie Spears, would be officially suspended from overseeing her estate, marking a likely end to what has been a 13-year-long conservatorship. Unsurprisingly, Britney's now-fiancé Asghari cheered the ruling on social media.

"Free Britney! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!" he wrote on his Instagram Story shortly after the news was announced. He also posted a photo of him offering a pink rose to Britney, as well as a symbolic photo of a lioness on which he wrote, "She did this ... Her fan base is called the army for a reason."

He is excited for a future with Britney, who is ready for a "fresh start."

According to E! News, Spears is looking forward to her new life with Asghari, especially with the looming possibility of her conservatorship coming to an end.

"Britney is very excited to embrace her full freedom," a source told the outlet. "She wants a new life with Sam and wants to make many changes. She is excited to move on and close that chapter of her life. Britney and Sam both want to live closer to the city and have discussed buying a new house."

The source continued, "Britney wants new energy. She is excited to be around more people and be able to be out and about as she pleases. It's very liberating and exciting to her.
