The Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks are ready, too.

The tickets

If you don’t have them already, expect to pay upward of $600 or more to get a seat at Globe Life Field. The seating capacity is 40,300. With standing-room-only tickets, expect more than 43,000 in the stadium for the first game

Open or closed

Although temperatures are expected to be around 72 degrees and a partly-cloudy sky, expect Major League Baseball to keep the roof closed on the ballpark throughout the series. You may recall there was controversy during the American League Championship Series against Houston when the roof was opned, upsetting Astros manager Dusty Baker.

How they got here

Both teams turned tough season-ending struggles into postseason success stories. While the Rangers lost three of four in their final regular-season series at Seattle and thus fell out of first place in the American League West, the Diamondbacks were losing four straight to Arizona and was only assured of a playoff spot the final weekend.

Once they got to the playoffs, both teams have played well. Texas swept Tampa Bay in the two-game wild card series, swept three games against Baltimore in the division series, then beat Houston in seven games in the American League Championship Series.

The Diamondbacks surprised everyone when they ousted Milwaukee in two games in the wild card series, swept Los Angeles in three games in the NL Division Series, then beat Philadelphia in seven games in the National League Championship Series.

Both teams won the league titles with road victories.

The starting pitchers

Much has been said and written about the Rangers’ Nathan Eovaldi, who will start for the home team on Friday; The Diamondbacks counter with Zac Gallen.

The first pitch

Each of the games in the series will start at 7:03 p.m. CT. President George W. Bush will throw out the first pitch in Game 1. Former Rangers slugger and Hall of Famer Ivan Pudge Rodriguez will catch the pitch.

The local ties

There are two players with local ties to the Metroplex. Rangers pitcher Cody Bradford played at Aledo High School, while Arizona’s Jordan Lawler who went to Jesuit Prep in Dallas.

The last time

The Rangers haven’t been to the World Series since 2011. And every Rangers fan will tell you about the agony they suffered, losing the World Series in seven games to St. Louis.

The former manager

While much of the attention is on the players on the field, former Rangers manager (and current Diamondbacks coach) Jeff Bannister could be in line to become the next manager of the Houston Astros. Star-Telegram columnist Mac Engel thinks Bannister would be the ideal candidate.
