Everything you need to know for Ohio high school football state championship games

Tickets for the Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championship games on Dec. 1, 2 and 3 in Canton are now on sale, and the schedule for finals weekend also is official. All seven state championship games will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, beside the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The state championship games will be played in the following order:

Dec.1 – Division II championship game at 7 p.m.

Local contenders in Division II include defending champion Winton Woods (10-0) and Kings (9-1) from the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, and Edgewood (9-1) from the Southwest Ohio Conference.

 Dec. 2 – Division V championship game at 10:30 a.m.

Among local contenders in Division V would be 9-1 Madeira whose lone loss came at the end of the season against unbeaten Wyoming for the Cincinnati Hills League championship.

Dec. 2 – Division III championship game at 3 p.m.

Contenders include 10-0 Badin who finished as the state runner-up a year ago and 9-1 Western Brown with record-setting quarterback Drew Novak.

Dec.2 – Division I championship game at 7:30 p.m.

There are several contenders in Southwest Ohio including Lakota West (10-0), Moeller (9-1), Elder (8-2), Mason (8-2) and Princeton (8-2) based on the most recent media poll.

 Saturday, Dec. 3 – Division VI championship game at 10:30 a.m.

Via the most recent computer rankings, 8-2 Williamsburg and 8-1 Cincinnati Country Day enter round one as the best bets locally from Division VI.

Saturday, Dec. 3 – Division VII championship game at 3 p.m.

The highest-ranked Southwest Ohio teams are No. 9 seed St. Bernard-Elmwood Place (6-4) and No. 10 seed Cincinnati College Prep Academy (5-5).

 Saturday, Dec.3 – Division IV championship game at 7:30 p.m.

At 10-0 Wyoming is a favorite along with No. 10 Taft (8-2) whose only losses came to Wyoming and Division II Withrow. Fenwick at 7-3 is also in the fray. Defending champ Clinton-Massie needed a late run to make the postseason but at 5-5 are in as a No. 13 seed.

State Championship Tickets

All-session general admission tickets for the state championship games are $90 each. This package includes one general admission ticket to all seven championship games. Ticket holders are required to exit the stadium between games.

All-session Stadium Club tickets are $150 each and provide one ticket to all seven games in theater-style seats, as well as access to the indoor climate-controlled club containing its own concessions for purchase and restroom facilities. There are no assigned seats in the Stadium Club section. Patrons with club access do not need to exit the stadium between games. Additionally, the all-session Stadium Club package includes access to tour the Pro Football Hall of Fame during the OHSAA Football State Championship weekend.

A limited number of 100 all-session Stadium Club tickets that include a parking pass are also available for $210 each. These ticket holders will receive a parking hangtag for the weekend valid for Lot C near the stadium.

In addition, there are single-day ticket packages available for the three games on Friday or the three games on Saturday. The three-game tickets are $38 each and ticket holders are required to leave the stadium between games.

Regional Playoff Game Tickets

Tickets for regional playoff games (first four rounds) will go on sale every Monday with staggered start times. Division I and II go on sale at 5 p.m., Division III and IV go on sale at 6 p.m. and Division V, VI and VII go on sale at 7 p.m. All tickets are purchased at www.OHSAA.org/tickets

The regional playoffs will follow bracket format. Second-round games will be played on Friday, Nov. 4, at the better-seeded team’s venue. Neutral sites will be used beginning in the third round, with Divisions I, II, III and V playing on Friday, Nov. 11, and Divisions IV, VI and VII playing on Saturday, Nov.12.

Spectrum will televise three games live on Spectrum News 1 and will cover 12 more games online at www.OHSAA.tv.

OHSAA Playoff Football on Spectrum

Spectrum News 1 will televise three first-round games live on Friday night, including Elyria at Wadsworth, Hilliard Davidson at Grove City and St. Xavier at Fairfield.

Spectrum will cover an additional 12 games with streaming coverage, including Berea-Midpark at Massillon Jackson, Delaware Hayes at Olentangy Berlin, Marysville at Dublin Coffman, Hilliard Bradley at Thomas Worthington, Western Hills at Milford, Colerain at Mason, Solon at Hudson, Garfield Heights at Macedonia Nordonia, Dover at Columbus St. Francis DeSales, Anderson at Troy, Ross at Northwest, and Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph at Tallmadge. All 15 games are available at www.OHSAA.tv.
