Predictions?

Best Picture: Across the board, Roma seems to be the favorite to take home the Oscar for Best Picture. The intimately beautiful film would be the first foreign language film to ever win, but some say that its release via Netflix could sway the Academy in another direction. Golden Globe winner Green Book also stands a solid shot, as does Black Panther which recently won the best ensemble award at the SAG Awards.

Best Director: Even though Bradley Cooper was snubbed out of a nomination in this category, there are some exciting nominees with a good chance of winning. Alfonso Cuarón is expected to win in this category for Roma, as well, although Spike Lee is another crowd favorite. It would be a historic event if Lee were to take the Oscar home as it would make him the first black filmmaker to ever win best director.

Best Actor: It seems like Rami Malek could be snagging this win for his exhilarating performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. Another front-runner for this category is Christian Bale with his performance in Vice, and the unbelievable physical transformation he made for his role as Dick Cheney. And don’t count Cooper out for his soul-baring turn in A Star Is Born.

Best Actress: As much as we would love to see Lady Gaga take this one home after her breathless debut in film, Glenn Close is expected to finally win – after seven previous nominations. The Favourite’s Olivia Colman is another stiff competitor in this category.

The 91st Annual Academy Awards will air live Feb. 24 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
