The number of Russian casualties is shocking, CNN International’s senior military correspondent, Frederik Pleitgen, noted about his last visit to the front, Bild reported.

"Everywhere is full of dead Russians, body parts, car parts,” he said.

“Nothing is being cleaned," he said.

Ukraine "suffers, and this, of course, is true," Pleitgen said.

"But how many of his own people Putin sends to death - I could not even imagine it would be as bad as it is now. This is one reason why Ukrainians still have the fighting spirit, because they understand that they are actually stopping a lot of them."

Ukrainian soldiers will be able to stand strong even without an aid package from the United States, he told the German magazine.

“They're going to rely on a new strategy, these little drones,” Pleitgen said.

“The Ukrainians are currently creating a long-range aircraft consisting of drones to attack supply routes."

The journalist also met the Ukrainian unit of drone operators who attacked Russian positions.

"They could see everything, they were literally looking into the faces of [Russian] soldiers who knew it was probably going to be over for them soon," he said.
