Here are the top stories today in San Diego:

  1. San Diego City Council voted Monday to pass a no-fault eviction moratorium. “The passage of this moratorium means that every renter in San Diego will have a bit more security in this far too expensive city and fewer people will be at risk of experiencing homelessness," said San Diego City Council President Sean Elo-Rivera. "This applies to folks who are doing everything that they're supposed to do. We just don't want to see them put at risk of homelessness. San Diego cannot afford one person to enter into homelessness, and this is a way to prevent that." To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (CBS8)

  2. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy visited San Diego’s Jackie Robinson Family YMCA. He came to see programs designed to help kids with mental health issues. Murthy spoke to local high school students: "You might feel stressed at times, anxious, or you may struggle with depression — that doesn’t mean that you’re broken or that something is wrong with you." "We have to do better by our kids," Murthy said "We’ve got to do that by investing in more treatment and making that accessible to them." Murthy commented that the goal was to reach out to kids and let them know they matter and that we are there for him if they are struggling. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. 3. The median home price in San Diego has tripled since 2000. Back then, the median home price was $229K. Today the median home price is about $858K. Where should you invest as a San Diego resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there’s a new investment San Diego residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now and many of them chose it.

This may surprise you, but it’s fine art.

Growing your nest egg with art isn’t new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.

Here’s why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi

  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2 percent when inflation is >3 percent

  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164 percent (1995-2021)

Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.

Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.

The best part? Anyone from your area can skip their waitlist*.
