EWSU lifts two-day 'precautionary' boil warning for East Side Customers

The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility has rescinded a 48-hour, precautionary boil advisory that affected more than 1,800 East Side customers.

The agency issued the advisory Monday morning after repairs were made to a broken water main along Burkhardt Road. According to EWSU spokeswoman Ella Johnson-Watson, low water pressure readings led the EWSU to warn customers out of an "abundance of caution."

The EWSU lifted the boil advisory Wednesday, as planned.

At least 1,866 total customers, including about 1,600 residential customers, were instructed to boil tap water − or used bottled water − for drinking, cooking, making ice or washing dishes.

EWSU customers can view up-to-date information about boil advisories and EWSU projects on the agency's website. Johnson-Watson encouraged Evansville residents to regularly check the Project and Advisory Map for water safety updates.
