Ex-AirAsia Indonesia head’s son gifts Hermes to thousands of guests at $6.5 million wedding

A five-star hotel in East Java, Indonesia, held an extravagant wedding that was attended by thousands of guests, including celebrities from Westlife, Boyzone and The Pussycat Dolls, who all received Hermes plates as souvenirs.

The couple: Held at The Westin Surabaya on Nov. 18, the 75-billion-rupiah ($4.8 million) wedding was for Ryan Harris and his bride, Gwen Ashley Widodo, the 19-year-old daughter of Markus Widodo, a property tycoon in Surabaya, and fashion designer Warren Tjandra. Harris is the 35-year-old son of ex-AirAsia Indonesia president Pin Harris.

How it went: The extravagant celebration, which included seven-part journey theme rooms inspired by their love of Disneyland, was attended by around 2,000 guests. Some celebrities who attended include former Westlife member Brian McFadden, former Boyzone singer Keith Duffy and American singer and former member of The Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger, who all performed at the reception.

All of the guests reportedly received a gray Hermes Mosaique au 24 Platinum Square Plate No. 3, with a cost of $185 each, as souvenirs. TikTok user @widyawonok uploaded a video two days after the wedding ceremony showing their unboxing of the luxury brand door gift.

About the couple: Harris and Widodo met two years ago, Widodo wrote in an Instagram post days before the big wedding. The couple got engaged in December 2022.

Reports noted that it took the couple eight months of preparation for the big event, including allotting six days just to set up the decor, stage and multimedia elements.
