Feb. 6—Former U.S. Rep. Tom Marino is trying to get his old job back as Lycoming County district attorney.

Marino, 70, a Lycoming Twp. resident, served as district attorney between 1990 and 2002, when President George W. Bush nominated him as U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

In 2010, Marino won the 10th Congressional District seat, but resigned from Congress in January 2019 to take a private sector job. In 2016, Marino became one of the first members of Congress to endorse Donald Trump for president.

District Attorney Ryan C. Gardner is running for Lycoming County common pleas court judge.

In a statement, Marino said serving as district attorney was "truly an honor" and a "launchpad for my 30-year career." He promised a tough-on-crime approach if elected.
