Former Hollyoaks star Callum Kerr has a new project up his sleeve, and has nothing to do with acting.

The Scottish actor has recently announced the release of his first single, having become a regular on the Nashville country music scene following his departure from the soap.

Titled 'Tequila Therapy', the upcoming track promises to be "the breakup remedy we've all been waiting for" according to his Instagram, and is set to be released on March 24.

Known to soap fans for the role of abusive cop George Kiss, Kerr has earned plenty more acting credits after leaving the Channel 4 series.

He appeared in the TV remake of Four Weddings and a Funeral starring Game of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel in the lead role, as well as in prequel Flowers in the Attic: The Origin and series Monarch and History of a Pleasure Seeker.

He will next be seen in medieval drama Glow & Darkness as Frederick VI of Swabia alongside a huge ensemble including Joan Collins, Jane Seymour and Denise Richards.

Speaking about his projects after Hollyoaks, Kerr previously teased to us here at Digital Spy that music was going to be a big part of his career.

"I'm going to continue to act. I've always done music as well, so I'll continue acting, doing music, and trying to stay creative," he shared back in 2021.

As for his Hollyoaks exit, it's unlikely the soap will welcome PC Kiss again after his abusive streak against poor John Paul McQueen was halted once and for all. Kerr had a chat with the soap producers at the time, who ultimately decided to kill off his character.

"He could have gotten away and potentially come back later on, to cause more havoc, but some of the abuse that he was dishing out really was quite disgusting," Kerr said of Kiss.

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
