Former Home and Away actor Johnny Ruffo has opened-up about the moment he found out he was cancer-free.

The Chris Harrington actor was recently given the all-clear from the disease, sharing a picture of a brain scan now compared to two years ago, when he was given the diagnosis.

Johnny's life changed in 2017 when he had a 7cm tumour removed from his brain, before going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Recalling the moment he was given the all-clear, he told Fitzy & Wippa: "It was incredible. Literally, you know how people always say 'it feels like the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders'? It genuinely felt like that.

"I walked out after being told 'you're good,' and I just felt lighter."

Speaking of how the diagnosis affected those around him, Johnny added: "Everyone around me. The first 24 to 48 hours I was unaware of everything because I was in a coma.

"I didn't know what was going on, so they were stressing, they didn't know if I was going to make it through, so they were preparing for the worst, I assume."

Meanwhile, the star recently revealed plans to return to acting, explaining: "I'm getting back into work... slowly keep kicking on.

"Now that I have the all-clear in the health part of things, I'm going to get back into television, back into acting, might even dip my toe into theatre – if the role is right."

Home and Away airs on Channel 5.
