Ex "minister of the DPR" convicted to 3.6 years in prison

A court in Moscow convicted Aleksandr Timofeev (nickname "Tashkent"), the former "Minister of Taxes and Fees of the Donetsk People’s Republic", to 3.6 years of medium-security penal colony.

Details: Timofeev was found guilty of "attempted large scale fraud". For $5 million, he and Ihor Sosnovskyi, the ex-advisor of Mykola Azarov, a fugitive ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine, promised to stop the criminal prosecution of Serhii Shpak, ex-head of Railtransholding. Sosnovskyi, who cooperated with the investigation, was released on probation.
When sentencing Timofeev, the court took into consideration the fact that he was a "combat veteran, has the Hero of DPR title and suffered combat injuries".
Background:
Alexander Timofeev, nicknamed "Tashkent", joined the "DPR" militants in the spring of 2014 and "fought" on their side for the Donetsk airport.
On September 23, 2017, there was an attempted murder of him in Donetsk.
There was information that Timofeev allegedly wanted to become the head of the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk Oblast.
