Luke spent three seasons as the head coach at Ole Miss, including the 2017 season as the interim coach in the season that followed the tumultuous departure of Hugh Freeze. Luke went 15-21 overall at Ole Miss, but had just a 6-18 record in SEC play. The Rebels went 4-8 this year and finished the season with a one-point loss to rival Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.
Before his promotion to head coach, Luke coached the Rebels’ offensive line and also served as co-offensive coordinator from 2012-16. He also had stops as the offensive line coach at Tennessee and Duke and a previous four-year stint at Ole Miss from 2002-05. Luke, an Ole Miss graduate, started 33 games at center for the Rebels from 1995-98.
Georgia was on the market for a new offensive line coach after Sam Pittman left Athens to accept the head coaching job at Arkansas. Pittman led the Bulldogs’ offensive line room for the past four seasons and is regarded as one of the best recruiters in the SEC.
