Ex-Warrior lists East Bay mansion for nearly $8 million

(KRON) — Former Golden State Warriors player and current Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Brian Shaw listed his mansion in the Oakland Hills on Zillow. The listed price is nearly $8 million.

Real estate firm Coldwell Banker Realty confirmed to KRON4 that the home belongs to Shaw. Shaw, an Oakland native, had a 14-year NBA career before moving into coaching.

The 9,220-square-foot home sits behind private gates, featuring a basketball court, outdoor kitchen and indoor swimming pool. It sits on the Ridgemont Hills and offers views of the San Francisco Bay.

“The non-traditional but practical architectural design of this property make it versatile for large events or private intimate gatherings. Create masterful meals in the remodeled kitchen while entertaining guests around the expansive island. With 180 degree views spanning 5 bridges, the sights from this property are unparalleled,” the Zillow listing reads.

The five-bedroom home was built in 2003 and is on the market for the first time, according to Zillow. Other amenities include a spa, video game room and six-car garage.

It was first listed in August 2023 at $7,895,000 and was re-listed on Jan. 3 at the same price. According to luxury real estate specialist RubyHome Northwest, a sale at the listed price would make it the most expensive single-family home sold in the Easy Bay market since 2016.

Shaw attended Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland and played his college ball at Saint Mary’s and UC Santa Barbara. He played for seven teams in the NBA from 1988-2003, most notably winning three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 2000s. He played 39 games for the Warriors in the 1997-98 season.

According to Basketball Reference, Shaw made more than $28 million in his playing career. He was the Denver Nuggets head coach for parts of two seasons from 2013-15 and is now an assistant coach for the Clippers.
