Midtown Memphis concert venue Minglewood Hall will resume operations in May, following a more than two-year closure.

The venue, located at 1555 Madison Ave., will relaunch on May 4 with a concert by Americana act Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, with several other shows — including performances by roots singer Shakey Graves, rock band Seether and stand-up comedian Chelcie Lynn — set to follow.

In October 2021, Nashville-based Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital, bought the venue and its property — 2.7 acres and 63,750 square feet for $4.6 million. The Minglewood purchase adds to an AJ Capital portfolio that includes several other notable music venues, among them Nashville’s Exit/In.

"Minglewood Hall has become a staple for the local music scene in Memphis,” said Dan Merker who will be helping manage the venue's operations for the company. “We are excited to set a new standard for the fan and artist experience, along with bringing a diverse and eclectic music lineup to the community."

AJ Capital has also brought in a new talent buyer to book the venue, tapping Live Nation veteran Grace Gibson to handle the 1,900-capacity main room and the venue’s 400-cap 1884 Lounge.

A veteran Texas talent buyer, Gibson previously booked House of Blues Houston, House of Blues Dallas, Bayou Music Center Houston and Echo Lounge & Music Hall in Dallas. She also oversaw all club-level booking for Live Nation’s South Region.

“Minglewood Hall has played a critical role in the Memphis music community and in the development of countless artists from all over the world,” Gibson said. “I’m thrilled to see it come back with a vengeance after we’ve all faced such a tough couple of years.”

As part of the relaunch, Minglewood will implement phased upgrades throughout the venue. Plans include reconfiguring its stage and adding new sound and lighting systems, remodeled artist green rooms and a full overhaul of the facility’s restrooms, among other updates.

Over the years, Minglewood Hall has played host to an array of acclaimed artists across the musical spectrum including Elvis Costello, Melissa Etheridge, Eric Church, Lucinda Williams, Gov’t Mule, Big K.R.I.T., Ben Folds, Kane Brown and Margo Price, among others.

A full slate of shows for Minglewood Hall and the 1884 Lounge is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
