How exclusive is the 1,000-point club? Only 57 Greater Gardner athletes have achieved it
On Monday, Feb. 20, Oakmont Regional senior Ryan Hulecki joined an exclusive club when he became the seventh player in Spartans basketball history to record 1,000 career points in a 60-35 victory over Monty Tech in a quarterfinal game of the Central Mass. Athletic Directors Association Class B Tournament in Ashburnham.
How exclusive is the 1,000-point club across the region? Well, since Murdock’s James Diamantopoulos became the region’s first to achieve the milestone in 1970, only 56 additional athletes from across Greater Gardner have accomplished the feat.
Narragansett Regional boasts the most 1,000-point scorers with 13, including seven athletes who have achieved the mark in the 21st century. With Hulecki reaching the milestone, Oakmont Regional is now tied with Gardner High for the fewest number of athletes to reach the grand total.
Murdock, meanwhile, can boast about having the region's top two overall scorers in Krystyn Quist (1,896 points) and L.J. Hicks (1,869 points).
